Hi,
I, myself, am fairly neutral here. I see the pros and cons. Of course most OD's and OMD's see it as a threat to patients eye health and a threat to their bottom line. They believe that if Opticians were able to refract independently that many (or most) people would go to WalMart or someplace similar for their refraction only and would not get their eye health checked. Presumably, alot of ocular disesase would go undetected. But this argument was used against us OD's by many ophthalmologist when we were fighting for DPA and TPA rights.
